Robby Fowler has once again made a controversial comment about the late error committed by Everton goalkeeper to hand the Reds a dramatic win in the Merseyside derby.

The former England forward said that the error was “calamitous” but he doesn’t feel bad for the England goalie.

Liverpool’s yesteryear star Robby Fowler has hit the headlines once again with his controversial comments regarding the late winner in the Merseyside derby that saw the Reds win the contest by 1-0 in dramatic fashion. He said that the error committed by Everton custodian Jordan Pickford, which led to Divock Origi getting his side over the line, was “calamitous” in nature and that he doesn’t feel bad for his fellow countryman.

The former England striker said, “Pickford claimed that he was trying to flick the ball over the bar, but it like he was attempting to catch Virgil van Dijk’s mishit shot. Jordan was trying to prevent Liverpool from an injury-time corner.”

He added, “So, as a former pro who was on the pitch when Pepe Reina made a similar error to hand Andy Johnson a goal in a derby, of course, I felt of sympathy for him. But as a Liverpool fan? Nah, sorry, Jordan.”

Jordan Pickford himself had apologised for the error he committed and said that he was mentally strong. The England number 1 said, “It is the Everton luck when we come to Anfield.” He added, “There’s nowt I can do about it now. I’m strong mentally and I will get over it. I just want to say sorry to the Everton fans because I know how much it means to them.” Speaking about the incident, he said, “It was a freak one, really. It had hit the bar twice and I tried to flick it over. The ball spun and, as I tried to flick it over, my hand hit the bar. It’s unfortunate but I am strong mentally.”
