Manchester United have completed three signings during the summer transfer window, having acquired the services of Diogo Dalot, Fred and Lee Grant. However, reports claim that the English giants are not done with signing Robert Lewandowski included in their to-do list. The Poland striker has been linked to a move to Manchester United and apparently, Bayern Munich are reportedly open to selling him. There are also reports claiming that Real Madrid have expressed interest towards the 29-year old.
Robert Lewandowski was perhaps the biggest disappointment of the 2018 World Cup. Coming into the tournament after a highly prolific season, Lewandowski wasn’t able to net even once as Poland’s World Cup campaign was just the same as their 2002 and 2006 campaigns, being eliminated after two matches and registering a win in their final match.
Lewandowski however said that the transfer rumors about him did not affect his World Cup performances. Speaking to Przeglad Sportowy, Lewandowski said, ”I didn’t think about it because I’ve been playing football for many years and this sort of situation has happened with all my transfers — whether it’s from Znicz to Lech [Poznan] or from Lech [Pruszkow] to Borussia Dortmund or from BVB to Bayern. I’ve learned how to handle these situations.”
Despite being a massive disappointment at Russia, Lewandowski’s addition to the Manchester United squad would be a boon for them. Jose Mourinho will be looking to have a strong squad which can bring the league title back to Old Trafford.
