Striker reveals desire to stay put at Old Trafford

Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie has revealed his desire to stay put at Old Trafford despite the reports linking him with a move away from the club at the end of the season.

Despite being instrumental in United’s 20th league title two years ago, Van Persie has struggled ever since at the club and has picked up several injuries along the way.

The Dutchman was signed from Arsenal in a deal worth ÂŁ24million and after a superb debut season, it looked like a great bit of business for The Red Devils.

Restricted Season

However, with injuries continuing to effect the striker’s career, it looked like his time in Manchester was coming to an end.

The 31-year-old has only managed 10-goals this season for Louis Van Gaal‘s men and with the Dutch manager preparing several changes over the Summer, it’s speculated that Van Persie will be one of the players on the exit list.

Foreign Interest

According to reports, Turkish giants Fenerbache are keen on signing the striker and there is also severe interest from Serie A, but Van Persie insists that he doesn’t want to leave the club.

Van Persie’s contract expires next Summer and if he isn’t sold this year, it looks like United are prepared to lose the striker on a free this time next year.

It’s believed Van Gaal will be signing at least one striker at the end of this season, with Radamel Falcao expected to return to AS Monaco once his loan deal expires.

Source Speaks

However, a source close to Van Persie has confirmed that the striker is not thinking about leaving despite the possibility of being a third-choice striker next season.

A source close to the striker told the Mail said: “Robin is in no rush to leave. He still thinks he can achieve things and contribute at Old Trafford.”

The Dutchman returned from injury during United’s 3-0 loss to Everton, but he only featured for two minutes at the end of the game.
