BBC Pundit Mark Lawrenson has claimed that Manchester United striker has handed in a formal transfer request at the club and is wanting a move away from Old Trafford in January, despite joining them last Summer.
It has been reported that the Dutchman is feeling unsettled under the tuition of new manager David Moyes and it is thought that he is keen on making a move away from the club in the New Year.
Speaking during a radio interview, Lawrenson revealed that he has heard all sorts of rumours from the training ground and he has claimed that the request was handed in on Tuesday to United officials.
“There’s all sorts of rumours coming out of the training ground at the moment,” he said.
“One or two of the press boys that I know that cover Manchester United, they’re even saying that the big whisper is Van Persie might have asked for a transfer on Tuesday.
“So if that happens, what a mess that’s going to be for David Moyes.”
