Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie has been ruled out of tomorrow night’s game against Liverpool in the Capital One Cup due to a groin injury.

The Dutchman was pulled from the squad to face Manchester City on Sunday in the derby, which eventually ended 4-1 to City and he has now been ruled out of a second-massive game just three days later.

Speaking ahead of the Liverpool clash, David Moyes admitted that he will not feature and also revealed that he will be in a race to try and be fit for Saturday’s game with West Bromwich Albion.

He said: “I don’t think he will play on Wednesday. He will have an outside chance for Saturday (home to West Brom).”

The Capital One Cup game marks the return of one striker and his name is Luis Suarez and all eyes will be on him with Van Persie left on the sidelines.
