Robin Van Persie wants contract extension

Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie has revealed that he hopes to extend his contract further than the three years he currently has left on his deal and the Dutchman is also aiming to win at least two trophies a season with the current English champions.

The 30-year-old joined United last season from rivals Arsenal and straight away won the Premier League at Old Trafford and once again claimed the Premier League’s golden-boot award, finishing ahead of Luis Suarez and Gareth Bale.

With three years on his current contract left, which will keep him at the club until he is at least 33, Van Persie still wants to stick around at the club a lot longer.

‘I have three more years to go and I would like to stay longer,’ the 30-year-old said. ‘I know, and I see people around me, making decisions where I think these guys will look back and say “was that a good one?”. I don’t want that.

‘I want to play as long as possible at the highest level.’

‘That (winning trophies) is what it is all about,’ he said. ‘Last year we got one trophy in four. Now we have to look at it from the opposite side.

‘We have the chance to get five this year. How many do we get out of those five? In my opinion we should be able to win two or three.’
