Jan Molby has recently advised Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers to make a move for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender is January. The former Liverpool man has emplored Rodgers to chase the Bundesliga star as they look to strengthen their defensive midfield, and Jan Molby believes Lars Bender is the perfect signing.
Bender was connected with a move to Anfield in the summer but a deal was never made, but Liverpool are keen to try and sign him again as he is a German international with a lot of talent and would work well with captain Steven Gerrard in a deep, defensive role.
For these reasons, Molby is keen to have Bender on Merseyside and he told the ‘Liverpool Echo’: “My suggestion would be to go after Bayer Leverkusen’s Lars Bender”, he also said “There are a lot of top players in Germany and I look at Bender and believe he is the real deal”.
The signing of Lars Bender would be a very good move for Liverpool as they are really starting to push for a Champions League spot and even the League title, and although it is a large sum of money to pay, his defensive qualities are exactly what Liverpool need to ensure a secure squad as the season heats up.
