Rodgers and Pulis win managerial awards

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has been named LMA Manager of the Year after guiding his side from seventh last year, to second this time around.

The Reds main goal of achieving Champions League football was succeeded earlier on in the season, and they were very close to winning this years Premier League title, but a costly loss to Chelsea and a 3-3 draw to Crystal Palace dented their hopes, and they were ended on the final day of the season as Manchester City were crowned winners for a second time.

Despite letting the title slip through their hands, LMA felt the improvement in Liverpool was enough to give Rodgers the main award, and when accepting his award, he admitted that he was hoping to be on top of a bus celebrating the Premier League trophy instead.

As well as Rodgers being awarded, Palace boss Tony Pulis won Premier League Manager of the Year after he guided Palace to a 11th-placed finish after taking over from Ian Holloway earlier on in the season.

The Eagles were all-but down when the former-Stoke City boss took over, but in classic Pulis fashion, he turned their luck around and turned them into a mid-table team with time to spare.
