Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that the Anfield outfit have no intention to let Raheem Sterling leave the club.

The 20-year-old has angered supporters’ of the Reds by snubbing a new deal, worth ÂŁ100,000 a-week, putting talks on hold over his future until the end of the Premier league season.

Raheem’s Champions league dream

With Liverpool on the brink of missing out on Champions’ league football, they will need to be wary of potential suitors across continental Europe.

Recent reports suggest that Manchester City and Real Madrid are just two of the top European sides keeping an eye on the England youngster, should he decide to leave Liverpool.

German Bundesliga Champions, Bayern Munich, and their Premier league rivals Arsenal, have also taken an interest in Sterling.

Despite rumours linking him with a move away from Merseyside, Rodgers has assured Sterling that the club can win silverware, following a poor campaign, both domestically, and in European competitions.

“Everyone wants to win trophies, everyone wants to play in the big competitions; but it’s also important that you have the opportunity to do that,” Rodgers added.

“So we’ll just be reinforcing our stance that’s been in place all the way along – that this is the best club for him at this moment where he’s got the opportunity to play and to fight and be competitive.”

The midfielder, who has featured 56 times in all competitions this season, netting on 12 occasions, is currently on a wage of ÂŁ35,000 a-week.

His current contract is due to expire in the summer of 2017, with Liverpool desperate to keep hold of their starlet, by pinning him down to a long-term deal.

But his current manager, Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Liverpool have no plans to sell the player.

Rodgers said: “Raheem won’t be going anywhere this summer, even if there’s not a deal agreed.

“We’ve made that clear from the beginning and the owners are very much supportive of that.

“We’re still pretty relaxed on it. It’s one were the club will meet up again with Raheem’s representatives.”

“We’ve had a couple of good meetings,” Rodgers explained. “He came to the house and had a good chat on a personal level as well.

“It’s not just about the football side, it’s also about his welfare because he’s still young and he’s been through a lot in the last couple of years.
