Kostas Manolas’ agent has rubbished reports linking his client with a move to Roma, leaving Arsenal free to sign the defender. The centre-back has been heavily linked with a move to a top European team this summer, after impressing at Olympiakos last season.

Reports in Italy were claiming he was on his way to Roma as a replacement for mehdi benatia, who is edging closer to a Bayern Munich move. However, the player’s agent has rubbished these claims and has declared that the Serie A side have shown no interest in the 23-year old whatsoever. He said:

“The rumours of Manolas moving to Italy have been going on for months now. But the truth is that there has been nothing. We haven’t heard anything from Roma.”

This leaves the door open for the Gunners to make a move. Arsene wenger is on the lookout for a replacement for Thomas Vermaelen and Manolas is believed to be top of his wishlist.
