French defenders Mamadou Sakho and Samuel Umtiti are on Roma’s radar
Roma have set their sights on signing Liverpool and Lyon centre-backs Sakho and Umtiti to bolster their defence.
The Italians recently sold Arsenal and Chelsea target Alessio Romagnoli to AC Milan last week for £20million and have highlighted the French pair as suitable replacements.
Manager Rudi Garcia knows he faces a battle to sign both Umititi and Sakho but remains optimistic on bringing them to the club.
Sakho, 25, signed for Liverpool from PSG in 2013 for a fee in the region of £18m and has gone on to make 46 appearances in all competitions.
Staying put
The 25-year-old did not feature in Liverpool’s opening day victory at Stoke but still remains a part of Brendan Rodgers’ plans for the season.
While Lyon are also standing firm and claim that Umtiti has a bright future in France.
The French U21 international made his first team debut for Lyon in 2012 and last month signed a new two-year deal, keeping him at the club until 2019.
