Serie A giants want talks with Swedish striker

AS Roma are plotting a shock move for Manchester United-bound striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, despite the former Sweden international all but certain to move to Old Trafford.

It has seemed almost certain for some weeks now, that Ibrahimovic will move to Old Trafford following Sweden’s Euro 2016 campaign. And with Ibrahimovic’s international duties now over, for good – after retiring from international football, it seemed a deal was set to be announced any time soon.

However, Roma have plans to derail a move to the Premier League, with Ibrahimovic meeting with his agent Mino Raiola yesterday, to look over the papers that would seal a deal to join United.

Jose Mourinho’s side are reportedly ready to offer Ibrahimovic ÂŁ220,000-a-week, to sign on a one-year deal.

AC Milan had reportedly failed in a bid to tempt Ibrahimovic back to the San Siro, who the 34-year-old featured for earlier in his career, while he also turned down approaches from China.

Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini has met Raiola on numerous occasions in recent weeks, but it understood to primarily to discuss possible bids for Ajax’s Arkadiusz Milik and Gregory van der Wiel of PSG.

However, if Ibrahimovic was to shock United and reject a move, despite it seeming all but done, a return to play in Italy seems most likely.
