According to reports, AS Roma will make a move for Feyenoord midfielder Tonny Vilhena. There have been several reports linking Vilhena to a move away from Feyenoord. As a matter of fact, the 23-year old nearly joined Sampdoria for a fee of €4 million. However, he did not leave Rotterdam because his mother was sick. He previously rejected a move to Inter Milan.
Vilhena joined Feyenoord’s youth team in 2003 and joined the senior team in 2012. He has since played 236 matches for the club across all competitions, scoring 36 goals and providing 23 assists. This season, Vilhena has made 17 appearances for Feyenoord, scoring two goals and providing as many assists.
His current contract at Feyenoord expires in 2020 but the club have reportedly allowed him to leave. In return for Vilhena, Roma will loan right-back Rick Karsdorp to Feyenoord. Kardorp was a regular for Feyenoord before joining Roma in 2017. He has played only four matches for Roma so far. This season, Karsdorp has played only two matches for Roma so far.
Vilhena has done really well for Feyenoord so far and his addition to Roma’s squad will be an asset for the club.
