Roman Abramovich gives Jose Mourinho contract decision

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has told manager Jose Mourinho that he can decide whether or not; Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard and John Terry get offered new deals at the club.

The English trio are all on a 12-month extension policy at the club due to being over-30, and all three of them could be set for a Summer exit if they are not offered new deals, which is now in the hands of Mourinho.

Despite no formal word coming out of Stamford Bridge on the subject just yet, it is believed that Mourinho will not want to lose all three of his stars as he wants to keep some experienced heads around the club, much like Manchester United have done with Ryan Giggs.

However, it isn’t understood which players he wants to keep, and which one he is likely to let go, but if his team selections are anything to go by, I would be worried if I was Ashley Cole as he is not getting a lot of game-time any more under Mourinho.
