Striker reveals dream to play in European competition

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has revealed it’s his dream to play in the Champions League.

The Belgian international is once again enjoying a fine season in front of goal, scoring 25 in all competitions and 18 just in the Premier League.

Although he is desperate to play in the Champions League, Lukaku knows the way forward is not to demand a transfer away from Everton, but his aim is to work even hard for Roberto Martinez‘s side so that he can fulfill his dream.

The 22-year-old has opened up about his career, and he’s admitted that sooner rather than later, he wants to be playing against the world’s elite.

Champions League Dream

“I am 23 this summer,” the Belgium international said.

“I have been playing since I was 16 and never had a taste of the Champions League. It is going to be seven years.

“You think about it. If it is going to happen, it is going to happen. I don’t think too much about it.

“Champions League football is really the next step, but I am not really thinking about it, because there are 10 games to go and we have something great to achieve in the FA Cup.

“In the league, if we give the maximum in the next ten games, we will see from there.”

Transfer Speculation

With another impressive season in front of goal, Lukaku has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park, with Manchester United and former-club Chelsea both interested, but the striker admitted he doesn’t focus on that side of things.

“I have an agent who deals with all that,” he added. “I am not too busy with that. If something happens, it will be for the good of the club.

“I don’t want to leave in a fight, if it happens. I won’t say this or that, it is going to be good for me personally and for the club.

“They were the ones who believed in me at the time nobody believed in me, and gave me a platform to perform.

“I have tried to repay them by doing good performances, but I have an agent who deals with the interest.

“I do not want to be bothered with it. I just want to play my football.

“I always put the team first. Always. Always. Not my personal ambitions.

“If I put the team first, my personal ambitions will follow automatically.”
