Ronald Koeman: “no new bid for Lovren”

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has stated that there is been no new bid for in-demand centre back Dejan Lovren, in an interview with Sky Sports.

Both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on the Croatian international, who is set to hand in a transfer request to force through any formal deal.

Southampton have already lost Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert to Liverpool, and Luke Shaw to Manchester United, with Lovren’s future on the South Coast in doubt.

And speaking to Sky following Southampton’s narrow 1-0 win at Swindon Town in a pre-season friendly, Koeman stated that there has been no fresh bid.

We have had no bid from Liverpool for Lovren, that is the situation.

“If that does not change, he will continue to play at Southampton.

“We know there is a lot of interest in our players, I think that is normal. But we have to wait, we work on the team.”

Lovren made 32 League appearances for the Premier League Saints last season, scoring twice.
