Southampton manager, Ronald Koeman, has revealed his interest in signing Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard, just a day after it was announced that he would be leaving the club in the Summer.

The Merseyside legend announced the news of his plans yesterday and is set to leave the club at the end of this season, sparking interest from teams across Europe.

However, after Gerrard’s comments about not wanting to play against Liverpool, it’s likely that he will be moving to America, and as reported earlier, LA Galaxy are already preparing a staggering contract for the Englishman.

The MLS side are prepared to offer the Englishman a four-year deal worth ÂŁ20million, the same contract they offered David Beckham when he joined.

Despite his intentions to leave England alltogether, Koeman has stated that if Gerrard does decide to stay in England, he’s more than welcome at St Marys.

Koeman said: “I’m serious, if he’d like to play football in England (for another club) then he can come (to Southampton).

“It’s maybe a little bit strange to see Steven Gerrard out of Liverpool.

“He is a fantastic football player, really the top level in the midfield position for being captain of Liverpool.”
