Ronaldo begs Real Madrid to keep Di Maria

Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has urged the club to keep Angel Di Maria, despite talk of an imminent move to Manchester United.

Ronaldo, nicknamed CR7, along with team-mate Sergio Ramos, has met with club president Florentino Perez regarding the future of Di Maria. The midfielder is seen as a hugely popular figure in the dressing room, and Ronaldo believes that losing him would hurt the club both on and off the pitch, in the same way after Mesut Ozil was sold last summer to Arsenal.

United have made signing Di Maria their priority for some time, having been linked with a move all summer. The club are in need of reinforcements after losing their first game of the summer to Swansea. And after signing another Argentine in Marcos Rojo, Louis Van Gaal is confident of tempting Di Maria into switching to Old Trafford.

French side PSG had been keen, but they were only interested in a loan move, whereas Real prefer a permanent deal, having signed Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez.
