Real Madrid star thinks good times could be returning to Old Trafford

Cristiano Ronaldo believes Jose Mourinho will be bringing good times back to Manchester United once he’s appointed.

Ronaldo left United for Real Madrid in 2009, and worked with Jose at the Bernabau, who is set to take the helm at Old Trafford following Louis van Gaal’s sacking on Monday.

Negotiations are heading into a third day as United try to secure image rights of Mourinho currently held by Chelsea.

“He’s already signed, hasn’t he? I think it’s good,” Ronaldo said.

“If it’s something United wanted I think it’s good.

“I hope Manchester United get back to being what they were because it’s an impressive club, but in the last years they lacked an identity a bit.

“And it hurts me seeing United like that because it’s a club I carry in my heart.

“I wish Mourinho can restore them back to the top.”

Ronaldo was Mourinho’s star man at Real Madrid during the manager’s stint between 2010 and 2013.

But the pair’s relationship soured as Ronaldo complained about Mourinho’s apparent negative tactics.

But the superstar, who has been linked with an ÂŁ80million move back to United this summer, insists he has no problem with Mourinho.

“Without any problems I would embrace him. One of my great qualities is to not hold grudges at anyone regardless of the damage they may have done to me,” he said.

“I’m not saying he did, I’m saying in general. There were some problems like in life, like you have problems with your wife.”
