Eibar 1-2 Real Madrid: Cristiano Ronaldo’s 17th goal in 10 games.
Ronaldo netted the opener against the run of play in the 34th minute, finishing from 12 yards after being played through on goal by Luka Modric.
The hosts started well as Real Madrid’s defence struggled to settle, but the champions’ first chance resulted in a goal after 34 minutes Ronaldo flashed home in the box after being found by Modric’s superb through ball with the outside of his boot.
Eibar soon equalised and should have put themselves ahead 14 minutes from the end when Escalante nodded the ball to Takashi Inui and he headed well over from close range. Ronaldo subsequently punished that miss, meeting Dani Carvajal’s right-wing cross with a powerful header that gave Dmitrovic no chance and sent Madrid back to the capital victorious.
Eibar defender Ivan Ramis equalised with his third goal of the season, a header from a corner 50th minute, but Ronaldo won it with six minutes remaining with a close-range header, his 17th goal in just 10 games. The result means Real move 12 points behind leaders Barcelona, before their clash with Malaga on Saturday evening, while Eibar are eighth.
