Forward chooses Frenchman over Mourinho

Cristiano Ronaldo has given his preference on which manager he wants at Real Madrid.

Ronaldo has said he wants current boss Zinadine Zidane to remain in his post at the Bernabau, denting the clubs apparent persuit of jobless Jose Mourinho.

It was thought Ronaldo would welcome the chance to join up with Mourinho once again at Real and that Zidane would make way for the Portuguese in the summer.

But 31-year-old Ronaldo has come out in support of his current manager, who replaced Rafa Benitez at the Bernabeu in January.

“I think we feel more appreciated under Zidane,” Ronaldo said.

“We feel his affection. We know he’s in a period of adaptation, but things have come together very quickly and I’m really happy for him.

“I always admired him as a player, and now as a coach as well, for how behaves, how he deals with the players.

“He’s a coach who I would like to see stay at Real Madrid.”
