Roy Hodgson plans no surprises

There will be no new faces coming into the England squad before the World Cup next Summer, according to manager Roy Hodgson.

The Three Lions only have one match before the big tournament gets underway and that is next year against Denmark, with Hodgson having to pick his 30-man provisional squad soon after that friendly, so that will be the last chance to impress.

However, the England boss has said that there will not be any surprise inclusions for the last friendly or for the World Cup in Brazil.

“I don’t expect in the coming months to be watching games and suddenly find players I have never really thought of jump out at me and prove to be a lot better,” said Hodgson.

“We are going to have to work very hard with the ones we have had with us here and add six or seven who weren’t available on this occasion and hope that between that 30 or so players we can produce a team that can give a good account of themselves at the World Cup.

“There is work for us to do. We know that.”
