Roy Hodgson has said that it is important for Crystal Palace to land Dominic Solanke.

The Eagles are set to land the Liverpool striker on loan this month subject to a successful medical.

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has admitted the fact that signing Dominic Solanke is important for the south London club. The Liverpool striker is set to arrive at Selhurst Park this month subject to a successful medical and is supposed to lead the line for the Eagles as they don’t have any top quality strikers in their lineup except for Christian Benteke, who is a long-term absentee. The player has not played a single match so far this season under Jurgen Klopp and is set to leave Anfield for the rest of the season.

The veteran gaffer said, “It’s no secret he’s a target. What would he do? Provide an attacking threat. He’s a proven goalscorer through all the age groups at [former club] Chelsea and England. If he comes here, it’ll be up to him to show he can do that in Premier League football. He’s someone with the profile we’re looking for and the ability we are looking for. We know him better from the England games and the performances with England. I thought he was a good signing from Liverpool’s point of view but he’s been kept out of the team by some very strong players.”

He added, “It would take some player to knock their front three out of the team so it’s not a negative in relation to him that he’s not been able to do so.”
