According to Ian Rush, Steven Gerrard will play a key part in helping Mario Balotelli to settle at Anfield. The Reds legend believes the captain will help Balotelli to fit in both on and off the pitch for the club.
The forward isn’t usually too far away from controvesy during his career so far, but Ian Rush believes he should be okay with Gerrard keeping a watchful eye on him. He said:
“Yeah, that’s why he’s captain of the club. The traditions of the club and the manager sets the rules, Stevie is the captain and he will be in the dressing room saying: ‘If you perform here, these supporters will love you.’
“Balotelli is 24 and he will improve at Liverpool.”
Robbie Fowler has also agreed that Gerrard will be a good mentor for the Italian striker but he believes that the Reds skipper would do the same thing with any player. He said:
“Steven is captain of one of the greatest clubs in the world and any player regardless of it being Mario Balotelli or one of the young lads, Steven would certainly look after anyway.”
