Sadio Mane has told Jurgen Klopp he wants to play in Liverpool’s Premier League fixture against Chelsea on Tuesday night.

The winger was to travel back from the Africa Cup of Nations via private jet on Sunday but delays and issues meant he did not arrive back in Merseyside until Monday evening.

Reds boss Klopp was unsure as to whether the 24-year-old would feature against the Premier League leaders on Monday, but The Times claim the Senegal international has told Klopp about his eagerness to play.

The Times also revealed Mane was joined by former Liverpool physio Dave Galley through the entirety of the Africa Cup of Nations, to make sure that the former Southampton, Red Bull Salzburg and Metz star received treatment and therapy of the highest quality while away from England.

Liverpool go into Tuesday night’s match having lost their last three.

Mane has missed seven games this month and Klopp’s side have only managed to win once in that time and that was a 1-0 victory against Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup third round.
