The defender has revealed his annoyance at his lack of game time earlier this season.

Mamadou Sakho has revealed his frustrations with Brendan Rodgers for not playing him at the beginning of the season.

He was left on the sidelines at the beginning of the season and it seemed likely that he would leave in August. However, he stayed at the club and he has recently been given a few games in the side, including in the Reds’ boss last game as manager against Everton.

The 25-year old has revealed he was raring to go in the Everton game and claimed he felt like a ‘lion.’

Sakho told the Express: “Let’s say that during the short period when I was not playing, I was like a little caged lion who had not been fed for a while. And when you open the door, he charges.”

The Frenchman is likely to start more games for Liverpool under whoever becomes the next manager, with Lovren out injured.
