The defender is reportedly ready to accept the charge in relation to his doping test failure

Mamadou Sakho could be facing a huge SIX MONTH ban after failing a doping test, according to reports.

The Liverpool man will not be a part of the side that faces Villarreal in the Europa League semi-final this week and indications are showing that he is likely to accept the charge and then try and get a personal hearing, where he can offer evidence to try and get the suspension reduced.

The centre-back claims that the drug he took was a fat-burning one to help him with his physique.

Could have faced TWO YEARS out

If Sakho is handed the ban, then he would miss not only the semi-finals of the Europa League but also the final if the Reds manage to get there and also the last few games of the Premier League season. He could even potentially miss the start of the next campaign.

Although, he could have been faced with an even larger ban. The Frenchman could have spent up to TWO YEARS out but it is very likely that because he is set to accept the charge, then he will face just six months out instead. It would be a big blow to Liverpool but with a full summer to recruit and get a replacement if he ends up out, then they could be okay until his return.
