Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla believes the signing of Mesut Ozil makes the club genuine title contenders and the Spaniard is very happy to have a talent like the German at the club.
Due to injury, Cazorla is yet to play with Ozil, but he has been watching him from the sidelines and has seen him pick up four assists in two Premier League outings.
Last season it was the Spaniard who was Arsenal’s most impressive signing and it now looks like Ozil is the new man on the block, but Cazorla is delighted to have the former-Real Madrid star at the club.
“Hopefully we win the title, but it is too early to talk about it,” Cazorla told Sphera Sports. “The beginning is very good. After the first loss the team is performing at a good level.
“We are consistent, that is what we lacked last season. Furthermore, the incorporation of Mesut Ozil has given us a big leap in quality.
“Hopefully we can now become one of the great teams and that gives us the chance to fight for the title.”
Despite initially being ruled out until mid-October, Cazorla himself is hopeful for a return to action NEXT WEEK, against Napoli in the Champions League.
“I hope to be back shortly. Every day I’m feeling better and I’m working on all ways to reduce my downtime,” he said.
“It all depends on how I train and strengthen my ankle. As the days go by I am doing more things and if all goes well I will try to return for the game against Napoli, but that’s not certain.”
