Sarri believes scoring early holds the key to Chelsea’s success against Newcastle

Chelsea will be looking to put an end to a disappointing sequence of results at home in the Premier League when the Blues play host to Newcastle United on Saturday and Maurizio Sarri believes that scoring early in the game would to a world of good to his team’s chances of securing all three points.

The Blues lost to Leicester City 1-0 at home before they were forced to settle for a point in a 0-0 draw against Southampton, with Sarri’s men failing to find the net in either of the fixtures.

It was a cagey encounter when Chelsea faced Newcastle early in the season and the Blues had to wait till the fag end of the game to get the winner.

And the Italian is well aware of what his counterpart Rafael Benitez is likely to have up his sleeve on Sunday.

“The match will be very difficult,” he admitted. “They are doing better away. It is a difficult opponent away,

“I think the match will be the same.
“I hope of course to score in the first 30 minutes, but if the match will be the same then we have to be patient.

“We have played very well in the offensive phase but we need to improve in the box, attacking the space.” “We need to score, of course,” he continued. “We need to solve this problem [not scoring at home].
“In the last match, we played very well, with continuity.
“With a great performance from the physical point of view, but we didn’t score.
“Now we have this problem. We need to solve this problem.”
Chelsea currently sit 4th in the standings, three points clear of Arsenal and the Blues will be keen to strengthen their position in the top four.
