Schalke rubbish links with Schurrle and Podolski

Chelsea’s Andre Schurrle and Arsenal’s Lukas Podolski aren’t transfer targets of Bundesliga side, Schalke 04, according to their Director of Sport, Horst Heldt.

The German duo are both strongly linked with moves away from the respective London clubs in the New Year, with both of them falling down the pecking order this season, but any reports linking them with a move to Schalke have quickly been rubbished.

According to reports, Schurrle will be leaving Stamford Bridge so that they can sign Marco Reus from Borussia Dortmund, whilst Podolski is set to leave Arsenal after starting just one game for the club this season.

However, Heldt has dismissed the chances of his club signing the World Cup winners, claiming they aren’t considering them at all.

“We’re not considering Andre Schurrle at all,” he said in Sport Bild magazine. “And the same goes for Xherdan Shaqiri and Lukas Podolski.”

Despite Podolski venting his frustration about his lack of game-time this season, Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, confirmed last night that the club have no plans on selling the 29-year-old in January.

“It is not established at all that he will leave at Christmas,” Wenger told beIN Sports. “He is not for sale and there is no offer.”

It’s believed that Jose Mourinho will look into selling Schurrle if there is a chance of signing Reus from Dortmund in the Summer.
