Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has stated to the media that the narrow 1-0 defeat against England at Wembley was “disappointing”.

The keeper, who was making his debut for the full national side, put in a superb performance for the spirited Dane’s, with many considering Schmeichel’s performance to be worthy of a man of the match award.

Schmeichel pulled of superb saves from the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Adam Lallana, and Danny Welbeck, as England huffed and puffed.

However, despite thwarting Hodgson’s men on several ocassions, Schmeichel was beaten with nine minutes to go, after Daniel Sturridge glanced a header into the back of the net, from an Adam Lallana cross, to give England the win.

Speaking to Danish TV post match, Schmeichel said: “We lost the battle, even though we had chances to score.

“But when you’re up against class attackers, eventually they get their goals.

“It is mega annoying, but that’s how it is. I generally just disappointed we did not keep a clean sheet.

“My own performance, I am reasonably happy with. But that’s not what this is about. It’s about winning. And we did not today. So it’s very disappointing.”

The young shot stopper should be proud of his performance, and will now be hoping to captain Leicester City to the title, with the Foxes running away from the chasing pack in the Skybet Championship.
