Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has revealed that he contemplated leaving the club this Summer in order to join Argentinian side Independiente, where he grew up in before moving to Atletico Madrid.

The City forward left Argentina in 2006 in order to join the La Liga outfit, and after impressing in Spain for several years, he made his move to England and helped guide City to their first ever Premier League title, including the 96th minute-goal that gave them the title on the final day of the season against Queens Park Rangers.

Unfortunately for Aguero, his boy-hood club was relegated last season and after finding out about the news, the City striker was tempted to move back in order to help the club.

“I love Independiente and when they were relegated I even thought about moving back there,” he is quoted as saying in The Sun.

“I wanted to help the club to go up again. I definitely thought about it, but my agent told me City would have killed us if we had.

“I know my job is at City, I am just saying the thought passed my mind when Independiente went down.

“I’ve been very happy at City since the day I came but I’m definitely going to back Independiente, in a few years as I want to finish my career there.”
