Sergio Aguero: “I wanted to kill myself after injury”
Sergio Aguero has revealed that he “wanted to kill himself” after sustaining a rib injury that forced him to miss Manchester City’s match against Chelsea back in September.
The Argentine forward had been in Amsterdam watching a concert by Latin sensation Maluma, but was involved in a car accident on the way back to his hotel.
He spoke about the incident with TyC Sports in Buenos Aires during the international break, and admitted that he had feared the worst when the crash originally happened.
“We took a cab at the hotel, and five minutes later, the driver was doing this weird manoeuvre,” he said. “I was with a friend and said to him, ‘I’ll fasten my seat belt just in case’. But I just couldn’t do it since it was sort of hidden.”
“The seatbelt was too tight, and I think that was the reason why I had my rib injured. I knew I had something going on because it hurt quite badly.”
“I asked the doctor, ‘Can I play on Saturday?’ And he made a funny face. I asked him, ‘Would it be next week?’ And he denied it. That’s when I said, ‘I want to kill myself.'”
At first it was feared the Aguero could be out for a number of months, but luckily he returned within three weeks and now looks to be back to full fitness.
