Short-term deal for Diarra?

Former Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid midfielder, Lassana Diarra, is training with Premier League side West Ham United.

The holding midfielder is looking to secure a short-term contract in East London. His former club, Russian outfit Lokomotiv Moscow, sacked Diarra after he fell out with manager Leonid Kuchuk and refused to turn up for training.

The French international has had experience in the Premier League before with London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea, as well as a spell at Portsmouth.

The Hammers’ boss, Sam Allardyce, is hoping to tie up the deal soon. West Ham’s deadline day bid for Darren Fletcher fell through as he moved to West Bromwich Albion, and Allardyce’s squad is suffering a current mini injury crisis.

In a recent press conference, Allardyce said: “He’s training with us. I’m not so sure we’ve finalised a deal yet but it is close. With our injuries as soon as we get him fit he will be a good addition based on his previous record.”

Diarra has won several honours in his illustrious career including the La Liga title at Real Madrid.
