SILLYSEASON’s TOP-FIVE SUMMER SIGNINGS!

With the Premier League season well underway, here at sillyseason we thought it was time to look back into which Summer signings have made the biggest impact and performed the best for their new club.

Now everyone will have their own opinions on who had stood out the most since arriving in the Premier League, but here are our top-five Summer signings.

5) Diafra Sakho – West Ham United

Now fifth spot was a tricky one for us and to be honest, it was between three West Ham signings.

Sakho, Ener Valencia and Alex Song were all in the mix, but Sakho just edged it for his goalscoring contributions to The Hammers.

Up there with Southampton in shocking the Premier League, West Ham are sitting fourth in the table after 11-games and are actually playing some very attractive football and that is down to the three names previously mentioned.

However, with five goals to his name already, Sakho just about gets the nod in fifth place.

4) Graziano Pelle – Southampton

Many of the specialist pundits tipped Southampton to be relegated from the Premier League after their so-called ‘disastrous’ Summer, but despite losing several of their star-men, The Saints are second in the Premier League after 11 games and owe a lot of it to this guy.

Signed from Feyenoord for ÂŁ8million, not many English football fans had heard of this guy, but after 11 games, the Italian has already registered six goals, including braces against Sunderland and Newcastle United.

Replacing Rickie Lambert was always going to be a tricky task for The Saints, but it appears in Pelle, they never had anything to worry about.

3) Diego Costa – Chelsea

In most seasons, this guy would have easily come in at the best Summer signing, but this season, he comes in at third place due to two others having an even better start for their clubs.

Signed from Atletico Madrid for ÂŁ32million, a reputation followed Costa to the Premier League, and boy he didn’t damage that.

Whenever a new striker enters English football, everyone wonders whether they can produce and Costa has produced the goods and then some for Jose Mourinho’s men.

Scoring 10 goals in just nine appearances for The Blues, Costa has been rampant in England and has helped guide Chelsea to top of the Premier League after an unbeaten 11 games.

However, it’s his team-mate that comes in at second.

2) Cesc Fabregas – Chelsea

Can you believe Arsene Wenger said no to this guy for just ÂŁ15million?!?!?!

I could stop the description about Fabregas at that point, but lets look into why he has finished second in our Summer signings list.

Returning to England after a brief spell away back in Spain, the former-Gooner captain has also produced the goods for Chelsea, scoring one and assisting nine.

The man can control a midfield and can split open defences in just one pass and that is what he has been doing with Costa in front of him applying the final touches.

With Fabregas and Costa in the team, a Premier League title for Chelsea looks all-but guaranteed.

1) Alexis Sanchez – Arsenal

Despite the Chelsea boys tearing up the Premier League, it’s a little Chilean that has won sillyseason’s Summer signing award.

ÂŁ32m was spent on Alexis and he has certainly paid that back already for The Gunners.

First of all, he scored the goal against Besiktas that got Arsenal into the Champions League, which earns the club ÂŁ32m right away, but since then, he has continued to score goals for fun.

Eight in the league and the odd-couple in other competitions, it is a wonder where Arsenal would be without Alexis this season, but one thing is for sure, he certainly looks like a steal at ÂŁ32m and also the best Summer signing.

What do you think of these five then??

What is your top-five?
