David Silva has signed a new five year deal at Manchester City, according to The Guardian.

The 28 year old’s extension at the Premier League Champions will see him stay at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2019.

Silva is now the third player along with Aleksander Kolarov, and Samir Nasri, who both recently penned new deals at City.

And the Spaniard stated his delight at the new deal to Manchester City’s official club website.

“From the moment I joined the club four years ago it has felt like a second home to me,” said the Spaniard. “On and off the pitch, I feel incredibly content and fulfilled professionally and personally, so why wouldn’t I want to stay and keep winning trophies with this fantastic team?”

Silva signed for City from Spanish La Liga side Valencia in the summer of 2010, and has been one of the Citizens stand out players in that stint, and made 28 League appearances as City won the Premier League and League Cup double last season.

And the player has his sights firmly set upon the new season, with City kicking off with an away trip to Newcastle United.

“Over the last four years, we have achieved so much together, establishing City as a dominating force in England and now, when I look around this dressing room, I can see no reason why we won’t become one of the top teams in the world”.

“It was a straightforward decision to extend my stay here and spend my peak years at Manchester City, a club with unbelievable fans who have always supported me.”
