Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone unsurprised of Godin leaving the club.

Simeone has not ruled out the possiblity of Diego Godin to leave the Spanish side and join the Italian side Juventus.

Godin has been linked to a move to Italian side Juventus since his performance in the World cup that helped the Uruguayan side reach the Quarter-finals. Massimiliano Allegri looks to provide depth to the squad and Godin can be really helpful for the side.

Adding Godin with Andrea Barzagli, Giorgio Chiellini and Daniele Rugani will make the defence of the Italian side stronger, but the latter is looking to join Chelsea making a spot vacant for Godin to fill up.

Speaking to the media, Atletico Madrid boss has spoken about the possibility of Godin leaving the club.

He said, It’s normal, we’re used to the fact that the best players want to go to the best teams,”

“It does not surprise me at all. It’s not just Godin but also true for the big players. I can say that this club is growing, it wants to compete with the best clubs in the world. This is going to be an exciting year for our supporters.”

The boss has also praised the joining of Gelson Martins. The Portugal international signed a five-year contract to join Atletico Madrid.

“Gelson is a lad who’s constantly improving,” Simeone added. “We saw it last year and his characteristics can help us. He’ll give us competitiveness on the right wing and offensively if we play with three up front.”

Atletico has to face Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain as a part of the International Champions Cup in the south-east Asia before returning to play a game against Inter Milan on home soil.
