Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has said that he will support whatever decision Lucas Hernandez takes. Hernandez signed a new contract last summer that will keep him at the club till 2024. However, Bayern Munich have shown interest in him and are keen to trigger his release clause of €80 million to rope him in next summer. It is also believed that Hernandez will sign a four-year contract with Bayern in the summer.
Lucas Hernandez joined Atletico’s youth setup in 2007 and played there till he joined the senior team in 2014. Since then, Hernandez has made 105 appearances for the club, providing 4 assists.
The France international has become an integral player under Diego Simeone. Even though Simeone wants him to stay at the club, he said that he will support Hernandez’s decision.
Simeone said, “When I talk about patience, I mean patience in general, not about Lucas. We want Lucas, we saw him establish himself.He decides what he believes best. I will support him, I want to because I respect him and love him very much. Each decision is personal. I am respectful. Lucas is a young boy, with a good present and a better future. I hope he stays with us. The team loves him and needs him.”
