Manchester United legend believes Chelsea should stick by under-fire boss
Sir Alex Ferguson believes Roman Abramovich would be stupid if he chooses to sack Jose Mourinho.
The Blues won the Premier League title and the Capital One Cup earlier this year, but their title defence has been embarrassing as they’ve only won four games out of 15, leaving them 14th in the table.
Due to the shocking season so far, Chelsea are already 14 points off fourth place and are just two points above the relegation zone going into the Christmas period.
Questions have been raised about Mourinho and whether he’s lost the dressing room, and reports emerged this morning that this week could be his final week in charge at Stamford Bridge.
However, he has earned the surprise backing from former-rival, Sir Alex Ferguson, who believes the club would be stupid to sack him for a second time.
Fergie Defends Mourinho
“Ambramovich has sacked so many coaches in the last 10 years that I am sure he has learned by it,” he said.
“He has to trust and have confidence Jose can turn around.
“There is no point in sacking one of the best coaches of all time.
“He’s won the European Cup twice, he’s won the league in each country he’s managed in, he’s won the big trophies.
“It would be foolish to take that step to sack him. That would be bad management. It’s not leadership, that.”
