Premier League side Chelsea are preparing for a bidding-war between six of Europe’s top clubs as they all are keen on signing Spanish midfielder Juan Mata, after it was made clear by Jose Mourinho that the 25-year-old can leave the club.
Serie A trio; Juventus, Napoli and Inter Milan, Premier League duo; Manchester United and Liverpool, and also Ligue 1 side Paris Saint Germain, are all interested in signing Mata in the Winter and it is believed that the Spaniard is likely to go due to wanting game-time before the Summer’s World Cup in Brazi.
In fact, after the game against Southampton on New Years Day, when it was revealed that the midfield maestro can leave Stamford Bridge, representitives from Napoli got in touch with Chelsea and enquired about the availability of Mata.
Napoli boss Rafael Benitez is keen to link up with the Spaniard again after they were together during Benitez’s reign at The Bridge, albeit it a brief one.
However, sources close to Mata suggest that he is happy at the club and will not force a move away, unless it is made 100% clear that he has no future under Mourinho.
It is also believed that The Blues boss will not sell Mata to a Premier League rival.
