The Slovakian wants a new deal and is “fully committed to Liverpool”

Napoli, Wolsburg and Inter Milan are reported to be interested in the 30-year-old whose contract expires in 12 months.

Brendan Rodgers is keen to convince Martin Skrtel to stay at Anfield after several senior players, including Steven Gerrard, are on their way out in the summer.

Despite talks being put on hold until the end of the season, the player in question is hopeful of a new deal at Liverpool.

Skrtel said: “There is always talk about my position and my future, almost every single transfer window there is always talk about myself leaving Liverpool and interest from other clubs,”

“But as it stands, I still have a contract with Liverpool, I have an offer from Liverpool and we’ll see where we finish [with those talks].

Skrtel’s agent Karol Csonto was quick to rule out a move to Wolfsburg admitting he didn’t “know anything about their interest.”

Csonto added: “The only offer which is lying on Martin Skrtel’s table right now is the extension of his contract from Liverpool, and we will be finalising it soon.”

Inter Milan could be an option

Current manager Roberto Mancini previously managed Manchester City and knows all about the Slovakian international, citing Skrtel as a bargain compared with Dynamo Kiev’s Aleksandar Dragovic.

Inter seem to be concentrating their efforts on Skrtel after being priced out for Dragovic, who nearly joined Manchester United in January.
