West Ham United boss does want to sign Barcelona midfielder

Slaven Bilic has confirmed West Ham are interested in bringing Alex Song back to West Ham next season, but admits they face competition for his signature.

Song was on loan at Upton Park last season, featuring 28 times under Sam Allardyce. He struggled to get game time with Barcelona after joining them for £15 million back in July 2012 from Arsenal.

However, the Catalan club are prepared to offload the midfielder as little as £6 million.

The Hammers have expressed an interest in resigning the player, but new manager Bilic has admitted they may not get the player.

Bilic Discusses Song

“Although I said I’m not going to discuss players from other teams, he is somewhere in between,” said Bilic.

“He played here on loan last year and he’s a little bit injured.

“I don’t deny that he was a great player who did really well last year and I would like him to stay with us.”

The new boss of the West London club faces competition from Chelsea and Liverpool for the signature of the player.
