Solari Calls For Response After Demoralising Defeat

Santiago Solari has called for a response from Real Madrid players after their shock exit from the Champions League.

The Galacticos faced a humiliating defeat in their own backyard as Dutch club Ajax scored four goals to dash their dreams of lifting the UCL trophy four times in a row.

Real Madrid manager Santiago Solari has called for a response from his players after they faced a surprise exit from the Champions League at the hands of Dutch side Ajax. The Galacticos were beaten by an embarrassing scoreline of 4-1 even after taking a lead from the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, which has proved to be a slaughterhouse of their title aspirations this season so far, both on the domestic front as well as the European stage.

However, the Argentine gaffer has told his players to respond strongly to the humiliation they have faced so far this season. Speaking to the media at the post-match interview, he said, “The season is difficult, but we are here to show our heart and character in difficult moments. Easy moments are easy for everyone, you can climb up and surf them, but difficult moments you have to show bravery.”

He added, “What we must do is remain as calm as possible in such a difficult moment and take it on with the best character. Madrid is bigger than any of us – it always returns – and returns even stronger.”
