Southampton ace prefers switch to Spurs over Arsenal

Arsenal have suffered a blow in the transfer market after reports suggest that Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin would prefer a move to White Hart Lane over the Emirates.

Former Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino is now the Head Coach at Tottenham Hotspur, and the 24 year old midfielder is keen to link up again with the Argentine.

Schneiderlin had his best season yet in a Saints shirt last season under the guidance of Pochettino, and his form even saw him called up to the French World Cup squad this summer in Brazil.

It comes as a blow to Arsenal, who are in the market for a midfield enforcer. Other target Sami Khedira could now stay with Real Madrid, and they may have to look elsewhere again if both North London clubs put in a bid for the Frenchman.

Schneiderlin has 3 years remaining on his contract at St Mary’s, so he would not be able to leave on the cheap. A fee of ÂŁ15 million has been reportedly placed on his head, which would still represent good value for money considering his age and experience in the top flight.

Arsenal are believed to have already had talks about the 24 year old with Southampton, whereas Spurs have yet to make official contact as Pochettino casts the eye over his current squad before making any new signings.
