Saints issues hands-off warning to Arsenal
Southampton will not let midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin move to Arsenal in the summer transfer window, according to head of football development Les Reed.
The Saints are to expect plenty of transfer offers for a range of players in their squad including France international Schneiderlin and goal-scorer Jay Rodriguez.
The Gunners are the favourites to secure the signature of Schneiderlin once the transfer window opens at the end of the season.
No Plans on Selling
However, Reed has silenced the media about a raiding of Saints players like what occurred in the last summer transfer window.
Reed said: “It wouldn’t be our intention to sell any of our players this summer.
“We’re in the process of renegotiating contracts with some but our main purpose at the moment is keeping this squad together and adding to it.” he added.
Southampton lost a lot of their star players at the end of last season with the likes of Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert all joining Liverpool while Luke Shaw signed for Manchester United and Calum Chambers signed for The Gunners.
On Rodriguez’s recovery from injury, Reed said: “Jay’s training most days now fully with the team.
“He’s looking in good shape, he’s a superb athlete at the moment, from spending such a lot of time training.” he continued.
