Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger has dealt a blow to North London pair Arsenal and Tottenham, as well as Liverpool, by stating that Jay Rodriguez and Morgan Schneiderlin are not for sale.
In a statement, Krueger claimed “Specifically to Rodriguez and Schneiderlin, they will not be going anywhere.
“We see them as part of a core we have in place, and a core in which Ronald (Koeman) would like to go.”
It has been a summer of discontent on the South Coast, which has seen Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, Luke Shaw and Calum Chambers all leave the club.
Despite the news about Rodriguez and Schneiderlin, Saints fans have a reason to be wary: in April Krueger stated “We are comfortable that we have a plan that can deal with the situation and we are definitely not factoring in a big player sale.”
