Southampton’s new director Hans Hofstetter has insisted that the club will do their utmost to keep hold of their English stars this Summer.

Adam Lallana, Luke Shaw and Jay Rodriguez have all had superb seasons in the Premier League and the first two have been attracting interest from some of the top-clubs in English football.

Both Lallana and Shaw have been monitored by Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea over the last few months, with the majority of them willing to pay up to £30million for the 18-year-old left-back.

Shaw will be the main worry for Southampton as he could become yet another graduate to leave the club after breaking into the first-team, but Hofstetter is adamant that the club are in a position where they can reject offers from clubs for their top-assets.

‘The most important point is that we are in a position where we do not need to sell any player Mauricio (Pochettino) wants to keep,’ Hofstetter told BBC Radio Solent.

‘We have a very strong squad and we are still in a situation where we are free enough to act quickly if quick action is asked from us.

‘In the short time I have been at Southampton it has become abundantly clear that we are blessed with a staff that has all the necessary skills with which to progress, and now that we can supplement that with a strong board I am sure we will enjoy a successful future together.’

All three of the Southampton stars will be hoping to make Roy Hodgson’s World Cup team this Summer, along with team-mate Rickie Lambert.
