Spain and Portugal go through to last 16.

Both the European heavyweights go through after playing out a draw in their respective group games.

Spain top Group B and will now face Russia in last 16, meanwhile Portugal play Uruguay.

A sensational late turnaround saw Spain top Group B after they drew 2-2 with Morocco in Kaliningrad on Monday night.

Portugal were held out for a 1-1 draw with Iran despite of Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty miss.

But luckily it did not cost Portugal a last-16 spot.

Khalid Boutaib put Morocco ahead in the 14th minute with a tidy finish after a mix-up between Iniesta and Ramos on halfway from Spain.

But Isco equalised in the 19th minute following a classic Spain move.

Around 81st minute Morocco substitute Youssef En-Nesyri got up highest to thump home a brilliant header from a Faycal Fajr corner with nine minutes to go.

But Iago Aspas saved the day for Spain at the very end.

For Portugal it was important not to lose. Ricardo Quaresma’s first-half stunner stole the show.

They were held out for a 1-1 draw despite of Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty miss.
