Spanish giants Barcelona sign over Manchester United’s summer target for a long term deal.
Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti has committed his future to the Catalan side by extending his contract with the club up to 2023.
This could be a huge blow for Man United and their fans, who were feeling ecstatic after believing the reports of him being linked with move to Old Trafford.
However, all of their dreams of signing the French defender has been destroyed, as Umtiti just signed a new five-year contract extension at Camp Nou.
Umtiti joined Barcelona from Lyon in 2016, and quickly established himself as a rock at the backline of Spanish giants.
He was linked with a move to the Premier League side but now the reports will banish.
Barcelona’s website officially stated:
“FC Barcelona and Samuel Umtiti have reached an agreement to extend the player’s contract for a further five seasons through to 2022-2023.
The Frenchman will be putting pen to paper on Monday at 10.00am CET in the Josep Suñol lounge at the Camp Nou. About half an hour later, at around 10.30am CET, he will be speaking to the media in the Ricard Maxenchs pressroom.”
