Sporting Lisbon sign Gauld

Dundee United’s teenage sensation Ryan Gauld has completed his move to Sporting Lisbon.

The 18 year old, who was tracked by several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, but the Scot decided to sign for the Portuguese side.

Gauld scored eight goals in 38 SPL games, and has also starred at international level, for the Under 21 side.

“Everyone at the club wishes Ryan sincere best wishes in his future career,” said a United statement. 

Sporting, who have produced the likes of Luis Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo, have also slapped a ÂŁ48 million buy out clause on the player.

The overall fee of the transfer is said to be around the ÂŁ3 million mark.

Gauld joins another young Brit at the Portuguese outfit, with defender Eric Dier already established himself in the first team, with the 21 year old Englishman signing from Everton in 2012.
